Getting very close and soft

Red Flowers, Bled, Slovenia

I’ve been exploring the inner pathways of my mind for the past few months, meaning to write a post…I am also behind on my newsletter by a couple months…but, of course, every delay means the next post needs to be great…and then spectacular…and then IMPORTANT. Screw that. Here are some pretty flowers I found in Bled, Slovenia, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.

Part of the delay is that I feel like I’ve been shooting the same pictures, over and over, and I’ve gotten tired of posting yet another nice travel scene. But working on this picture, and then watching a show about Sally Mann, has re-energized me. You’ll note that only a couple points are in focus with this shot, and even then just barely. It’s my 50mm, f/1.4 lens, which is an amazing piece of glass. I think, for a while, I’m only going to shoot with this lens, set wide open. We’ll see how that goes.

And hopefully, I’ll have another blog post tomorrow.
